94 axle type
does anyone know what type of stock axle the 1994 f150 XLT came with? i want to buy a detroit locker, but i don't understand what all this Dana 44,30 and Ford 9" stuff means. Which one am I?
I'm interested in why the front would be a Dana. Current F150s use Ford front(8.8) & back(8.8 or 9). When did they make the transition from Danas?
Anyway, you don't want a locker up front unless you do tons of wheelin'. They'll chew your tires off in no time on daily driver.

my truck is a 94 f150 XLT 2wd auto, im planning on a 6" suspension lift and 33x12.5 BF All-Terrain KO's. I wanted a limited slip locker in the rear to aid in some non-serious fun mudding. Is this a good set up for what i have in mind?
Nomo, I think Ford switched when the new style came out(F-150s). The Late models have a totally diferent setup than the older ones. The superduties still use a Dana front. Athough the finally quit using that bad-design IFS setup. 1980-1996 F-150s had a Dana 44, and the F-250's had a Dana 44HD IFS(leaf clad) and the 1-tons had a Dana 60 Solid. The new Superduties use a Dana 50 and a Sterling rear.
no kidding about the front locker, they also steer VERY hard!.
