oil pressure drop

Anybody know what could be causing a slight oil pressure drop on my 92 F150, 5.0, 5spd manual? It's usually dead on center, now it's reading a little low.

Mine does that too from time to time. From what I've read, the oil pressure gauge on our trucks don't actually "work" though. They just default to dead-center if the pressure is over above a certain point.

There's probably some rotty wiring in the gauge's circuit. Unless a conversion and gauge mod was done, it just goes to dead center when the oil pressure is above 6psi, below that it drops instantly to "low". A bad ground for the gauge is probably the issue, but I wouldn't worry about it. If you're really concerned, install a real pressure gauge. Mechanical ones are dirt cheap, like $10.

not to be worried. possibly run a heavier oil depending on the weather conditions where you live. The gauges dont really read much for pressure they basically read normal as long as the oil filters full of oil regardless if your running a little low or not.

I'm not sure how your guys' trucks are, but mine doesn't have a lot of pressure as it is. As long as it doesn't just drop while you are driving, it should be fine.

Thanks guys. That makes me a little less worried. I noticed that the oil pan gasket has started leaking, so when I replace it I'll check the pump. Thanks again.
