Finally! (For all you straigt 6 owners who to be loud)

I finally figured out that the root of my engine/transmission problems lately were do to 2 plugged catylitic converters. So, i had the muffler shop fab me a custom Y collector, put it with a flowtech glass pack and a pipe that dumps infront of my right rear tire. I was sceptical of how it would sound at first, but belive me it is AWESOME SOUNDING:rocker: !! Within an hour of leaving the muffler shop 3 people had asked me if I had a diesel under the hood:D Anyone with a big six looking for power and loud pipes, this is the economical way to go at around $150 including parts and labor. Minus the labor, you could get by with about $90.

No cats (in rural Texas, not a big issue )
Both manifold pipes y into a 2.25 pipe, they saved a piece that had the o2 and smog pipe. A significant mpg gain, but that is probably due to the absense of plugged cats. I will be pulling a trailer over the weekend, so we'll see about power. Since I upgraded from 235/75/15s to 31/10.50/15s the speedo is off, which means the odometer is off. To find true mpg, i will have to get a new speedo gear (anyone know where to get one?).

You're gonna have to find a programmer/tuner and reprogram it for larger tires.

No he doesn't. the PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module) in the '96 is user programmable. Do a search. Instructions have been posted several times both here and over at FTE.

Thanks, and to Steve83 for the instructions. I got it calibrated, and pulled out my gps to check it, I realized that back when i had to wot to hit 78 i was really going around 86.

I just cut the exhaust off back by the headers ran dual two inch exhaust into dual two chamber flow master mufflers and dump before the axle at idle and speeds up to 45 miles an hour sounds like I have a big block under the hood. Awesome deeeep sound.
