Does your truck have a factory tow package? If so, then it's likely ready for a controller.
The other way to check is if the light connector has a blue wire hooked up. I'm not sure if you have the older 6-prong "star" shape one or the newer 7-prong connector. My old '93 had the star prong connector, my "new" '93 with a tow package rather has a 7-prong roundish one. See here for info about trailer hookups. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for info about Ford wiring. |
i aint sure if its a factory tow package or not, but ill have to check on that blue wire thing. and i got a 7 prong

My 1995 F150 has the tow package and was prewired for a controller. There was a connector stashed behind the dash down low near the transmission hump. It also came with a connector with leads that could be wired to the controller. All it takes to install is to plug it in.
