whats up everyone??? Here's my problem i go out to start my 87 w/ 300 6 and it has nothing, no lights or crank, I jump it, pull the cables off and it dies.. so the next day i jump it to take it to my buddies shop to check the charging system, i jump it and leave the cables on for like 30 seconds, then the alt starts smoking real bad, so i pull the cables off and it dies. I shut the hood and left it at that. Does anyone know whats going on, i just want to keep it running so i can take it to my buddies shop? Thanks for the help..

 

My altenator went out once and i kept driving it using my battery to power the truck to make it home and mine caught fire literally i got it out and then unplugged the alt and drove it on home i would say unplug the plugin and charge the battery good and then you can get it anywhere you need to go just make sure not to use anything you dont need like radio or anything.....

Yup, your alt is done. Disconnect it and make a quick run to your buddies on a fully charged battery with as little stuff running as possible.

got the new alt and battery, starts right up, my brother took it up to north jersey and it died on him again, Looked under the truck and the flywheel was like almost off, i didn't see it yet but i thought i'd throw that out to ya's...is that strange or what
