replacing instrument cluster
Hi all,
I just got an instrument cluster with a tach for $19. The seller cut the trans indicator cable loop. Should I send it back or could I fix it with parts from my old one? I colud get another one close to home, intact for $40. I have a 1989 f150 302 with an auto transmission. My old cluster works fine. I just wanted a tach. The "new" cluster has only 19k, 119K, or 219k miles) Thanks, Lance |
To answer my own question: It is best to leave the gear selection indicator attached to the column and remove the "new" one from the replacement cluster. Reattach the old indicator to the new cluster before bolting down the new cluster.
