Hey just wondering How these 5.0's hold up for the long haul

How many do you think Keeping Oil cahnged and so fourth..??

My father-in-laws '89 has about 230,000 miles on it.

he changes the oil at 3000.

not sure what he uses.

'92 just hit 105103 before I parked it last week. Oil changed every 3000 with Castrol full synthetic 10W30
'88 beater I just picked up to keep the miles off the 92 will get the same treatment.

Mine has 223,000 on it and still going strong! Original motor and transmission. I hope it holds til 300,000. I change the oil every 5000 miles.

mines got 128000 miles and still runs like a champ

104,000 miles and it's a dog. Everything is in good shape. It's just too slow

1995 2WD turned 155,000 over the weekend. Oil changes every 4,000 miles (give or take). Still runs strong and has never left me stranded. Took a 600 mile trip last week and averaged 18.3 mpg. I would keep it forever, but with two car seats (twins) there is no room the wife. (She didn't like the idea of placing a lawn chair in the bed.) So I guess I will have to consider an upgrade to a crew cab.

that is great to hear Sounds like this is a very good motor for thjer long haul..I agree about being a bit slow..But I can live with that

155,501.9 93 f150 5.0 and the engine is still going good. my teacher at school had a 95 f150 5.8 with 225,000 and it is still running he just bought a 04 f150 fx4 about three months ago and he has already put 10,000 on it. i also have a 88 f150 with a I6 with 220,000 and that still runs good.

 

My daughter is turning 15 this summer and my father in law bought an '05 f-150. I'm fixin to be the proud owner of that '89 5.0 with 230,000 for her to drive. It'll look good in the driveway next to my '88 5.8 4x4 with 140,000.
