Wiper Control Module
 

On the 94 F150 there is a "wiper control module" located behind the glove box. In fact to get to it you have to remove the glove box. Does anyone know what this thing does? I'm having some funky problems with my wiper system and would just like to know what this thing does.

That module controls all of your wiper and washer functions using the steering column control as an input. What problems are you having ?

When I push the washer button, I can hear it clicking behind the glove box.The wipers come on but no fluid comes out. The problem is intermittent. The pump is good, hoses are open, and nozzles are clear. I tend to think the switch is OK because it must be making contact in order to make the control module click.

I know you said the module clicks but just for grins and it only takes a few minutes pop the cap off the end of the switch on the column then remove the screw and slide off the rotating part. Now clean the contacts with alcohol or contact cleaner then lube with petroleum jelly or some light grease then pop it back together and try it again. I've had to do this with every ford I've owned with this setup.

Mine did exactly the same thing... clicking near the glovebox, some of the intermittent settings wouldn't work, etc. Anyway, you need to change your MFS (turn signal switch). I did last weekend and it's perfect now. Advance has them for sixty bucks and all you need is to unscrew 3 phillips in the belly of the steering column molding and 2 T20 torx screws that hold the switch on. Unplug the two plugs and put the new one in. 30 minutes and I guarantee this will fix it. The guy at Advance will probably mention how many he sells, too.

You can buy a new one but all they need is a cleanup.

I finally got around to working on my wipers ( now that it's raining again) and the cleaning of the contacts in the switch seems to have done the trick.

I also have the same problem with the 1994 Wipers. I have changed the motor, NO HELP. I changed the Switch, NO HELP. Cleaned all contacts, NO HELP. Last thing I can think of to do is replace the wiper control module. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I commend your efforts with the search function, but this thread is just a wee bit old. Start a new one.

I took it apart to clean the contacts but a spring fell out and I can not figure out where it sits. I also can't figure out the proper position to put it back together. Any advice?

I did the pull and cleN and mine worked fine after . Don't pay att to glc and his redirections to get an answer

No body would be cranky in here if it had answers and not MODERATIONS
