Headers w/GT40P heads on '95 5.0 4x4 Supercab
Headers w/GT40P heads on '95 5.0 4x4 Supercab
Has anyone else put a set of Long tube headers onto GT-40P heads (From Explorer) onto a 1995 4x4 Supercab?
I know there are headers for Mustangs with the GT-40P heads, but what about the 4x4 trucks?
I don't want to use shorties, because I want the benefit of the collectors in a long tube header. I'm concerned about interference with the transfer case, cross-members & so on.
I'm curious to see if anyone else has attempted this kind of project, and if so, what headers/exhaust they used?
The problem with the GT-40P heads is that the spark plug comes almost straight out of the head, and will interfere with most headers, so you would have to unbolt the header to change plugs. I don't want this hassle. The shorty headers will work, but really don't contribute much to the power equation(at least not as well as long tubes)
Thanks a lot for your help. Here's to my fellow Ford owners!

Do you alreay have these heads? If not, keep an eye out for some true GT-40 irons (they go for $300-500 locally) and not worry about the header ordeal.
If not, you're just going to have to work around a plug change.
