weird start/run

Unhappy weird start/run

something weird happend to my 93 f150 yesterday, I started it, started right up than it stutterd, and the moter reved up, then down and up ect... Then i backed out of the garage got into my parking spot, put it in park then she died. any suggestions... oh and the temp outside was about 55 F. with SW wind at 21mph and raining...

Check the codes first, but you probably need to clean or replace the Idle air control valve.

Since it was raining i would say ignition wires.

I have'nt had time to pull codes, its only done it once, Jon, I dont think it would be ignition wires beacuse it started just fine.

Ok something else happend when i left school today, i walked out of school like i normally do, i remote started it because its freken cold out about 10 F. anyways i hear it start up and then it dies i get to it and start it with my key, and it idles high and dies. i start it again and give it some gas and then kept it stedy stayed running after like 5 min of this. any ideas other than pulling codes? COuld this be because its so cold and windy?

Stalling truck

Maybe you've fixed the problem by now, but it's posible the valve the retains gas pressure in the line is shot. Giving the truck gas for a while will allow it to run on its own. The next time you shut it off and leave it for some time you'll have to pump the gas to start it as the line pressure will have dropped once more.

Idle Air Control motor - I couldn't idle without engine dying, had it replaced and it fixed it.

maybe TPS (sensor)

Finally got it fixed. took it in to the firestone service center and had them look at it. they pulled the codes. and then figured out that the throttle body had a carbon build up in it. hmm truck runs like new now... thanks for the help
