Finally found a clean '91 Bronco w/351, but fuel guage doesn't work.
 

How do I fix and how much? I may buy the truck, but not if it going to cost major $ to replace the sender/sensor. Nice truck at $4200 w 93,000 miles. This is the second Bronco I have driven that the fuel guage doesn't work. of course my '78 Bronco has the same problem, but I haven't investigated that one yet.

My '88's didn't work for the longest time. So when it came time to replace my front fuel tank because of a leak, I deceided to see what I could do about that not working problem.

This was awhile ago, but I think I rememner this correctly. All I did was clean the contacts on the connector in the tank, especially the ground, it worked fine for about a year after that (only on the front tank that I did this to, back still didn't work), however, now it just bounces around.

my gauges work, but arent accurate at all.

I love my 1990 351 Bronco my gas gauge works. But I had to put in a new oil pressure sencer my oil pressure was reading on the low side and that fixed the problem I know the oil pressure sencer was common and valve cover gaskets are common I had to do valve cover gaskets to stop the oil leak..

I have same exact problem. The pump works but the sending unit failed. So it reads empty. I am replacing the whole pump assembly. Almost $200. I will report on the experience.

My '85 sending unit is shot, too. It reads full when I fill up, then drops to empty within about 75 miles. Since this is my hunting/fishing/wood-brush-refrigerator-furniture hauling rig, I'm trying not to put any money into it, so I have just taken to filling up every 200 miles (I only have one tank, which is 16 gallons). I also have a 2 gallon gas can in the back just in case I do run out.

The dealership told me it would cost about $100 to replace the sending unit, which is pushing 10% of what I paid for the whole truck! THerefore, I am going to stick with the mileage count. It's really not that bad, I fill upo when the odometer reads 200, 400, 600, 800, and 000. Makes it easy to remember.

My 88 has a nes sending unit in it and all the connections look good and guage reads full all the time:mad:
