Help - engine died

Hello all,

I started up my 97 f150 after it sat unused for a week. A buzzer / alarm started going off behind the glove box and the ABS light was glowing red. The truck started feeling sluggish, the check engine light came on and then the motor died.

Before parking my truck last week, I was playing with the aftermarket alarm (audiovox) to see if it was causing my battery to drain. I must have popped a fuse as the alarm doesn't work anymore but my battery stays charged up now.

thanks for any help or suggestions

More Info

Drove up to see my dead truck. The interior dome light is bright and the headlights are too. I turn the key on and the test lights in the dash board are dim (ABS, Check engine) try to turn the motor over I just get the clicking noise similar to dead battery.

Thanks,

Jumped the batter this morning and started right up. Disconnected the jumper cables and the motor died again. Went to costco and changed to a marine/rv deep discharge battery.

Hopefully, now when I let my truck sit for a few weeks I can still recharge the battery.

thanks for the suggestion.

That could be a bad alternator.
