Is Ford still using the IWE vacuum hub system in new trucks?

Are new (4wd) trucks still running vacuum-held 2wd?

Shouldn't our trucks default to 2wd instead of 4wd?
The way the IWE system works seems backwards.
Vacuum should hold 4wd in.

Thanks,
MB

Yes they still are the same. To me default should be 4wd, as that what would be needed the most in case of a problem.

Default is 4wd...That is why when the solenoid fails it grinds the gears as it is trying to engage....I wish they would just put manual hubs or that someone would make an aftermarket manual hub....

It only grinds when it is partially engaged, not fully engaged or disengaged.

It all depends how the solenoid fails...I had an issue on one side particularly...My solenoid will now be replaced once a year regardless of whether or not it is working....

This minority wants manual hubs and a manual transfer case where the lever actually moves something instead of microswitches.
