Doesnt this seem alittle expensive??
Went to talk to the local performance shop by me today, i was told by a few people that he knows what he is doing. For just install of the 4.56 gears he wants $1100 seems alittle high, for what i have been hearing install prices are. What do yall think?
i think some shopping around might be in order. thanks for the input guys |
Thats what we charge and were in alaska where everything is a lil high so yeah for jersey id say thats about 300 to much what is your labor rates are is 125 a hr
|

really thanks ill have to give them a call

Are you guys talking front and rear, or rear only? How much are the parts, and which install kit?
|
$130 an hour labor? is that what shops are charging now?
Hell I know what I'm doing when I lose my job. |
ORW in San Diego, CA quoted me $1300 for 4.56 gears. I went with yukon 4.88s instead so it was a little higher. But the $1300 for the 4.56 gears front and back quoted everything so $1100 for just labor is crap. Here in San Diego typical cost for labor at a good performance shop is $90/hr. At most, ORW had my truck for 8 hrs so even if they worked on the truck for the entire 8 hrs thats only $720. My brother lives in Jersey and says cost of living there is not as high as here so there is no way they should be more exspensive. Tell that shop that their quote is outrageous and if they aren't willing to be reasonable that you are going to give your business to someone else. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I don't think I've even seen a dealer that charges $130 an hour.
|
yea this isnt a dealer hes a private shop iv been the 3 places this week by my house in central jersey and the cheapest i found was with parts 2100 so regearin might have to wait
thanks for all the input guys helps to see what other guys are doin |
For that price it may be worth it to you to go out of state..........
|
i might go outta state i guess more callin around is what ill do
thank yall for the idea and i think after lookin are im goin to do 4.88 with the 37's even though its a daily driver think it will be better for the truck wat do yall think |
Wow, that is unreal. Our regular shop rate is $83 an hour(Kenworth, Volvo, GMC md dealer).
|
I know the Jackson Powertrain company wants 900.00 to rebuild my LS with 3:55 gears stock 9 3/4 rearend.. I told them I may be getting a whining in rearend as well and they said oh, 900 may not cover all that .. I may go to a few local junkyards and get a rearend and teach myself to rebuild one..
|
well i went to a local dealer thats and svt dealer the ford racing gears and install are cheaper they wanted 1650 i might do that
only trouble is that ford and frod racing dont warranty the gears at all yukon and the installer(krazy house customs) will warranty the parts and their install so i will be calling them tomorrow to see if they will come down on their price thank yall for the input |
