Eaton locker fluid type?
 
I just baught an Eaton locker for my 8.8 rear diff, do i have to run the 75-140 full synthetic with modifier or can i go with something like 85 140? and add modifier...

Its an eaton truetrac are you 100% sure because its $50 in fluids here that i dont want to waist.

true trac uses gears instead of clutches right? so you dont need the friction modifier.

Long read, but food for thought. I think I'd probably run 80W90 dino with no modifier. Maybe you should try to contact Eaton and see what their position is these days.

Eaton Posi units perform best when using GL4 (or better) mineral/petroleum based gear oil. A four ounce bottle of friction additive/modifier is also necessary for optimum performance.

Truetrac

What kind of oil should I use? Can I use synthetic? Do I need friction additive/modifier?
A quality petroleum/mineral based oil works best in the Truetrac units. We do not recommend synthetic oil. Friction additive/modifier is not required.

Detroit Locker
