Planning on bigger tires and I want more power

Ok so I've been looking through threads to find a good answer but nothing is coming back and giving me a confident answer. I found these gears

http://dagostinoracing.com/index.php...ducts_id=14829

i have an 8.8 rear and i am assuming an 8.8 front at well on my 06 stx 4x4. i know these gears are meant for a mustang but i think i read somewhere that spline count doesnt matter when changing ring and pinion. what are your thoughts. also how difficult/realistic would it be to put some sort of locker or limited slip on these gears also how bout putting a limited slip or locker on the front as well. im fairly handy with tools and i have a close friend who was a mech before the marine corps to help but i would like some outside ideas.

how big of tires are you thinking?

what motor do you have?

The rear axle is 31 spline you need diff gears for 31 spline, this is for the carrier.

on the front, you need the 8.8 Ford IFS reverse rotation. Yes, you have to do both axles.

i have the 4.6 and planning on 35's thanks for the input i did not know that i needed a reverse rotation for the front. pretty interesting. i had read somewhere that the spline count didnt matter when changing the ring and pinion only when changing the carrier. is that correct.

Correct. When people refer to spline count they are talking about axle shaft splines which have nothing to do with the ring and pinion. If you change the carrier you have to make sure the side gears have the right spline count or get axle shafts to match.

Now don't forget that you need reverse cut gears in the front.

The OP said the truck is an STX. They didn't have the 5.4 available so they're all 8.8 rears.
