What are paint marks on carrier shims

I have an 8.8 carrier shim that is badly mauled. It has four yellow paint marks which I know signify the thickness of the shim. I have a ford manual for '86 cars which has a chart but apparently they've change between then and '98 which is what this shim is from. Anyone know what thickness this shim would be?

Measure it with a micrometer or a vernier caliper where it is not worn. Yes, the marks coincide with a measurement in the shop manual. Hint, all shims are odd in the measurement. Ex. 0.295".

It doesn't have a place that's not worn.

Sure it does. At least one part of the shim is thicker than the rest...measure it there.

I have taken measurements they average around .261-2. I was trying to find the original thickness so I could get a replacement.
