Diifferential cover

I am replacing my stock 3:55 with Yukon 4:88's. Will the factory cover still fit and if I decide to get a cheap chrome one would it be a good idea or will it run the gears too hot?

Skeeter, the cover should still fit fine. I'd stay with the original vice going to a cheaper alum one. I bead blasted mine down and then had it Air brushed with several clear coats to protect it. It's lasted 4 years so far!!

it will still fit. the size of the ring gear does not change it just gets thicker and the pinion gets smaller.

because the pinion head gets smaller the ring gear moves over. the hump in the cover soemtimes does not clear. I have done 200-300 8.8's and only seen this a handfull of times. I think it is in the older stuff broncos and such maybe there covers were different, never seen it in the newer trucks so you should be fine.

Thanks guys, yeah I was hoping that was the case. Diff. covers are expensive anyways, especially for a good one.
