changing out rear seals and bearings
So I'm gonna tackle my leaking rear axle seal this weekend and figure I should probably do the bearings too since I'm in there. Question is how much difficulty will this add? other than a bearing puller with a slide hammer will I need anything else. Do these bearings have to be pressed in, or can I get them with normal tools? Thanks guys any help is appreciated

Just a slide hammer to get them out, tap them in with something the same diameter and a hammer. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I have 140,000 on mine with no problems.

This should help answer a few questions:

thanks guys, that other thread was just what I needed to convince myself I can do this fairly quickly and easily. Off to buy the parts tomorrow, hopefully the parts counter is open at the ford garage, I know the union mechanics don't work, but the showroom is open so I'd assume the parts counter will be.
