Question does SLIP work in reverse

I have a limited slip on my F150 supercrew. Last night I backed up a gravel road in reverse. A very light tap on the gas had me stuck with a spinning wheel. (I couldn't tell if both were spinning). Does a SLIP work in reverse or only when moving forward?

Yes the limited slip works in reverse. The clutch packs have no way of determining which way you are going. They are engaged. Only when the traction of one tire greatly exceeds traction of the other will it slip(causing you to have one wheel spinning) However you had both wheel on gravel with pretty much equal traction so both tires were spinning. The reason you spin in reverse is because the bed of the truck is light to start off with and then when you gas it, the weight shifts even more to the front. When going forward the weight shifts back on to the wheels.
