The big stink is for the 2004+ 3 valve engines. The only issue with yours is they blow out if they are undertorqued. Best recommendation is 28 ft/lb dry, no antiseize.

Its always a good idea to buy a Ford Truck We can't really tell how good a shape your truck is on without seeing it. There are a lot of guys on this forum with well over how many miles you have on your truck. If I was you I would drive the hell out of it and buy another one if it dies.

It is important to keep tranny fluid fresh and full, but im thinking a driveline u-joint. just have someone get in apply parking brake then apply foot break and put in gear. If it clonks then it is the driveline or ujoint. if not put in reverse then park again and engage 4H and engage drive. If it clonks then its front driveline/ujoint. if not drive and increase speed slowley and see if it happens when shifting. If yes see a tranny man if not see a tranny man

03 and older trucks don't have hubs, they use a differential lock.

what do the stock wheels on the 7700 look like? being 7 lug I assume they had a special stock wheel. in the market for a 97-03 and sounds like the the 7700 is the way to go.
