Rear Differential in front LEAKS...i TOLD YOU 04'S SUCK

I drove my new 04/150/4x4/8200GVW off the lot October 6th 2003.

First my front end bottoms out when off the road...and the 8200 GVW give me a break...lousy sh...it design.

Now the rear differential leaks, in front ....

I new I should have bought the Titan.

Oh this is my up-teenth 4x4 from Ford since 1970!

This truck has been more heartache than ANY OTHER FORD TRUCK I HAVE EVER HAD...

Any Jerks out there work for Ford...
Wanna buy this piece of crap back so I can buy a truck that is a truck instead of a yuppy/soccer mom cab.

You can call me on my mobile phone: 402-681-3562

I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEM WITH A TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING...

HEY FORD, seems to me those yuppy's -with their salon hair and 100-buck haircuts should not be designing a working mans truck, let them be concerned with their hair color..

belt-loop Jul 22, 2004 08:14 PM

No one from Ford reads this....duh!!!!

Come on, some one from Ford call me and tell me that after 10 years in the making the 'you' designed a heavy half (8200GV) that bottoms out on the front cross member!

Tell me you designed a front end with the worst ground clearance in the industry?

Tell me that you designed that differential leak!

Tell me that you designed a lousy defrosting system?

Tell me that you designed the windshield washer nozzles location in the worst possible place in the world....ya shoulda just left them off the truck!

Tell me you put in a quality tilt-steering wheel lever which is just like the one in a Dodge NEON...AND IT sucks!

Come on, call me and tell me you paid $200-Grand to some one to design this POS...

This is my 15th, maybe me my 16th, could be my 17th, Ford 4x4 and it's the worst!

Come on CALL ME!!!!!!

You got my number...

Just a suggestion...

Might want to consider griping to your zone rep or the dealer principal rather than several satisfied (or less than satisfied) owners on the internet.

Q,
You are probably right but I am so pissed about some of the negative design changes -which were so G D stupid- I find it UN-FKNG BELIEVABLE that Ford actually paid a nin-com-poop to design the changes.

So complaing to those you suggested will not get any public play. This I-net will get public play, I won't get much sympathy....but maybe some prospect wanting to buy a 04 ford will think twice about the FACTS I am pointing out....

I defy any engineer, any designer from Ford to call and debate me and convince me that what I have pointed in is not pure, un-adulterated CRAP in their design changes.

One simple thing for instance. I live in a snow-belt state. Winter temps can get to 30-40 below at nite (not very often). Now look at Ford 150's from 2002 or 2003 and see where the squiter nozzles are. ON TOP OF THE HOOD, AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD EDGE about 2-5 inches. A perfect location...incredibaly easy to keep clean and unplugged from ice or snow sliding down the windshield either when defrosting or during a blowing snow storm.

Then check out where these **** for brains put those nozzles on the O4 models. RIGHT BELOW THE WINDSHIELD IN AN ICE-TRAY MOULD PLASTIC DESIGN WHICH CATCHES AND STORES ICE AND SNOW RIGHT ON TOP OF THE NOZZLES.....and Ford paid an idiot to do this...

During the first snow storm in Nebraska on Nov 18 or there abouts /03', I had to drive 200 miles thru blowing snow. In between towns the ice and snow built up to impede the windshield wipers because that stupid ass ice-tray design below the wipers would catch ice and snow sliding down into these ice-cube square's and build up.

read carefully:....Sometimes my viewing area thru the windshield was not any bigger than a closed finger hand print..

Then when coming into a town I had to pull over into a gas station and clean out the ice-tray so the wipers would kinda work...boy was that a pain in the ass.

My 2003, that ice and snow simply blew off!

Don't get me started on the front end bottoming out and the worst front end ground clearance.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And the road noise test.....u must be kidding, they do a slick willy on that one.....

And the tranny-oil cooler, crawl under an 04/4x4/150 front-end and see where it is located.... WHAT A FRIGGN JOKE...the designer putting that there must'a been smok'n krak....

I've been driving Ford 4x4's, exclusively since 1971....todate.
That 33 years, and for the last 17 years on a daily basis from 4-8 hours a day, 5 sometimes 6 days a week!

Tell me there is another on this site driving a 150/4x4 the same as I do. On year my gas bill was over $4000!!!!!

I'm so tuned into my truck I know when my truck drives over a dime in the road.

AND NO ONE DRIVES MY TRUCK BUT ME.....once in a while I'lll let my kids back it out of the driveway but that's it!

Na, telling them is like pissing or spitting in the wind.

regards

Honestly though, alot of people will just glance quick at posts like this and ignore them. With all the Ford message boards I frequent I've seen alot of posts similar to this about the 04 F150s and the 6.0L diesels. Anymore I just read them for their entertainment value. For the most part I haven't seen posts like this sway very many people. Anyways this is one reason why I don't like to buy first model year trucks right off the lot. You may run into problems like you listed. I went through similar things with my early 97 F150. I learned my lesson on that and decided I wouldn't get a first run vehicle again. The one I have now is as close as I'm coming to that, but the drivetrain had been proven already so I wasn't too worried about it. Bottom line, its a new design and may need some more refining or it just may have been a dud. If you read through the 04 forum you will see quite a few people complaining about problems. For that many having problems there are 10 times more people going problem free. It just that problems usually get yelled about louder than problem free. I'm not trying to argue that your truck is good, but just trying to help put things in perspective. In your situation I'd reccommend going to talk to the zone rep and if necessary go higher. Given a good documented service history they should be able to do something eventually.

belt-loop Jul 23, 2004 07:47 AM

PS,
What your are saying is correct. And I know the 'less' informed will not pay any attention and for SURE someone from ford will not respond.

The problems I mentioned should never have been screwed with in the first place: washer nozzles PLACEMENT, tilt-wheel control, low front end ground clearance, tranny cooler in harms way at a low spot UNPROTECTED on the front side of the front cross-member.

THESE ARE BONAFIDE factual f..k ups.

ALL ANY ONE HAS TO DO, who has an IQ over 30 ON 4X4's is just LOOK. Their own eye sight will reveal the idiocy of these changes.

I'm not complaining about cosmetic's I am complaining about functional reality!

My truck has the 8200 GVW package, new 300HP motor and 410 gears...a seemingly perfect set up for going off road....actually an ideal set-up for going off-road.

I've hunted Deer in the Valentine, Nebraska area for nearly half a century....in ford 4x4's. been stuck fewer times than the number of fingers on one hand.

THIS TRUCK BOTTOMED OUT -low front end ground clearance- more than ANY PRECEEDING for 4x4 I have owned... and this truck is supposed to have the beefy-est. suspension.

I've pointed out FACTS. If readers choose to ingore those fact...that's a whole new topic...

The best to you...

ConcreteGuy Jul 23, 2004 08:18 AM

Really who is this...your a GMC dealer right ??

My Ford does not do what you say yours does, nothing...If I have a issue I speak to my local Ford Dealer and they call up the line to help me get it fixed...

Anyone that's had as many Fords as you claim you did ...I would have to wonder where your eyes were the day you looked over the ford you bought...With all your know how in Fords how did they get you to buy that one ??

wemjr Jul 23, 2004 11:32 AM

The way I see it is that ground clearance and "ice tray design" windshield washer nozzles existed when you bought the truck so why didn't you notice them? You're calling the engineers sh*tty, but those designs were clearly noticeable and you still purchased your truck. It's one thing to find an internal or structural design flaw later on, but if you're so attuned as to the functionality of the washer nozzles I would have thought you would have noticed it since it would be clearly visible during a walk around inspection of the truck while it's on the lot.

powerstroke73 Jul 23, 2004 11:39 AM

Well I'd like to point out one thing before I step back from this thread. You're expecting this truck to go offroad. The F150 line has been turned into a grocery getter style truck by all the soccer moms who decided that an SUV was no longer adaquate and decided to move onto trucks. The first big step in this was back in 97 with that generation of F150, these new ones carry it even farther. I would never expect any offroad performance from a new truck right out of the box. The only vehicle that comes close to that is the Jeep Rubicon, but all others are just glorified grocery getters. Honestly I don't recall seeing too much hype on the 04s offroad capability, rather the focus has been on towing capacity and supposedly a better onroad ride and comfort. IMO its unfair to expect this truck to excell offroad since its no longer the truck's forte. Anyhow just my $.02 on this. Probably won't be too much longer before this thread gets the axe anyhow.

A. Everyone understands that it stinks when your hard earned money goes into a POS.

B. PS hit the nail on the head; never buy a first year redesign.

C. I've never seen anyone from Ford respond here.

D. Too much emotion inhibits reasonable interaction from people who aren't the cause of the problem.

belt-loop Jul 23, 2004 10:16 PM

CG,
I am in a crummy position of having to get a new truck every 2 years because of warranty, in my business trading is paramount!

PS, new trucks becoming a grocery getter...love it...

belt-loop Jul 28, 2004 02:16 PM

Now guess what: my 04 has remote mirrors and guess f.....in what....they do not work. AGAIN back to the dealer!

How long has ford had remote control mirrors...
How long was the 04 in research & development...

told you...told you...told you...

shoulda bought me two Titans...

WOULD SOME ONE FROM FORD CALL ME AND BUY THIS POS BACK...IT KEEPS NICKLE AND DIME-ING MY TIME TO DEATH...EVEN WITH WARRANTY THIS HASSLE IS NOT WORTH IT...'

fatman66 Aug 13, 2004 04:28 PM

this thread belongs in the 2004 forum, might get more response there, but I wouldn't expect Ford to be callin. I have to agree about the nozzels for the windsheild washer fluid, same as on my 95 Seirra, always get iced up so I'm just ued to bringing a bottle of hot water out to the truck with me on cold mornings...
