If this is posted already I apologize, but I looked couldnt find it. I have an '02 FX4 5.4 I have the 3..55 gears. I want to go from 265/70 R 17 to 285/70 R 17. I just want to make sure that Its not going to be horribley sluggish.

I did that swap, but I have a 4.6L. My drop in power was pretty noticable. On very windy days I have to use D instead of OD since the truck doesn't have the power to pull it along with that big a tire.

Need to regear

I went from the 265's to 295's and had problems when I went to tow my Jeep. I went to 4:10's and it is much better. I also have th 4.6.

thats what I don't want. I dont want do do gears, i like my 3.55's And that exta 2 inches will slow me down, I just dont know How bad its going to be with the 5.4 I mean its got grunt power but its still a little weak and with bigger rubber I don't want to get fustrated with it. anyone Know anyone with the 5.4 and 3.55's with the 285's? thanks so far

I went to 285's from 265's. Plus the added weight of the new tires was an additional 80lbs for all 4 tires. So my power went down but with the mods i have it kinda stayed the same. But mileage suffered and so did my brakes. Im contiplating selling my mt/'s and getting bridgestone dueller revo's.

Yea I think Im going to stick with the 265's and go with a more aggressive tread. Im thinking the BFG a/t's. They are stock size, but give me some better rubber than the wranglers i have on now. Dont feel like suffering the consequences with brakes and power loss.
