Numbers Matching Mirrors DONT MATCH!!! HELP!!!
Howdy Ford Nation! Had a collision in my 2015 F150 XLT Texas Edition 2.7 Eco Silver Baby with my baby in the truck... Went to a body shop to get the damage fixed, one item which I thought would have been the easiest turned out to be a MAJOR PAIN and turn me into Columbo!!!
Now parts matching passenger side mirror for my VIN says that the replacement mirror is FL3Z-17682-CB... Which is pictured below in great detail.
Got my truck back and was driving home and the headlights from cars were bright as heck and hurt my right eye, almost had to put on sunglasses! This mirror i thought had dimming tech, but I don't know, and several parts guys are dumbfounded with my predicament. I've been to two different Ford dealerships to ask questions without incurring more cost, but they wanna take my door panel off so they can disconnect the good mirror and get the number off of it, but I'm not paying for more labor!
Are there any parts specialists that can help! In my searching through new (used) F150s on these lots I saw a difference between XLT mirrors, Platinum w/Bliss, and Laramie. Mine also has the tow package which might change the mirrors on the truck but I even went so far as to call my salesman and asked him to send me the sticker (He's cool like that) but it doesn't specifically address the mirrors!!!! I attached a closeup of my mirror (driver's side) that is still good and you can see the difference between the lines around the mirror, it has two distinctly different colored areas with the black line (heater I'm guessing) and another line at the bottom of the mirror as well. The other mirror was the same, keyword WAS.
I REALLY could use some help on this! This is my FIRST F150 and I want to keep it looking it's best! Not settle for WELL THAT'S THE NUMBERS MATCHING mirror!
My poor babies...
Estimate from USAA approved body shop
This is the new mirror straight from Ford dealer
This is exactly what the new mirror looks like, didn't take a pic.
This is the drivers side mirror (Unbroken and what the other one looked like)

Why can't you just pop the mirror off?
It only takes but a few minutes and basic hand tools...
On another note, I also don't know what you mean about the lights being bright?
I've never heard of a dimming side mirror, nor would I think I'd want one. In all my years of driving, I kind of expect bright lights in my mirrors, especially fools that are driving directly behind me with their high beams on. With that being said, it still don't bother my eyes. Same thing goes for those dimming rear mirrors. I prefer to flip the little tab at night.
If these new vehicles have them, it will be one option I don't want. I hate auto mirrors, lights, climate control, etc.
