I wrecked my baby :( Opinions on damage?
I rear ended another vehicle yesterday and would appreciate any guidance on things that I need to talk with the adjuster about on Monday. At first, it didn't look TOO bad, but I know parts add up fast so I'm curious if anyone has any insight on what to expect and if there's anything below that I've either left out or need to bring extra attention to. This is an '06 Lariat with a little over 69k miles and was in pretty pristine condition prior to this.
Thanks guys!!
Here's what I know...
The airbags did not deploy.
I can't get the hood open without potentially doing more damage, so I'm saving that for the adjuster.
There was no fluid loss, but it was really close.... While I can't open the hood, I can see through the grill that the transmission radiator is bent down the middle and pushed back into the main radiator, damaging both.
Both passenger-side doors stick just a little when opening now. Not sure if this is a game of millimeters, but I measured the gap between the two drivers-side doors (5.6mm) and the two passenger-side doors (3.6mm).
The gap on either side of the hood is now bigger at the front (both sides) than in the back... Front passenger-side gap about 6.8mm, front driver-side 7.9mm, back passenger-side 4mm, back driver-side 4.7mm... Like both front fenders were pushed out away from the center-line a little.
I'm not exactly mechanically inclined, but I assume this is an engine mount? It is on the frame, at the front of the fender well. The drivers-side one here is pushed back about a quarter inch or more. The passenger-side one is back maybe an eighth of an inch.
This is the frame punched through the bumper on the passenger's side
Bad angle, but the frame punched through on the driver's side
Front on. Almost looks like it will buff out from this angle... I didn't get a good picture of it, but there's about an 8-inch wide/2-inch deep scrape at the front of the hood. The hood itself doesn't seem to have any obvious bends, but possibly something subtle I'm not seeing.
Busted grill and ripped plastic between it and the bumper.
Driver's-side hood is pushed back up against the wiper cowl. No gap.
Passenger's side hood has a gap around the wiper cowl.

Im sure you bent the frame a little and tweaked the cab but totally within a fixable level.the mount you show looks like the forward most cab mount that holds up the radiator support. If you were paying out of pocket, a shop that does good work would probably charge around 5 grand to fix it. i nearly totaled my 96 f 350 it took alot more damage and still wasnt totaled. generally they will total a vehicle when the damage costs more than 75% of the value of the vehicle to fix, so with a truck worth 15 grand or so theres no way they would total it for that.

Core support is bent and pushed back. It's normal shape is similar to the front curvature of the truck, now it's flatter, seen with the fenders pushing wide in the front.
I doubt the frame is really that torn up, it looks like most of the damage was higher than the frame.
As for the coolers on your truck it's:
Trans / Condensor / Radiator (in that order)

Thx
So I haven't seen any final numbers yet, but took it to a bodyshop that the insurance co was friendly with last Monday. He advised going ahead and leaving it there that day because of the trans cooler pushed into the radiator situation. He didn't seem terribly alarmed at any of the damage. Finally supposed to be able to pick it up tomorrow.
Had jussst enough time before dropping it off to start drooling over the 2016's, but I guess I'll see how Old Faithful does. Been a good truck the past 10 years!

Ha! Yeah.... There was a definite pucker factor with the price tags.
Amazingly, it was a little bitty SUV that I rear-ended. No doubt that there WAS damage to it, but from what I could see (it was dark) it escaped relatively unscathed. Mine came to about $4k in repairs and some frustrating "challenges" with the body shop.

Glad they're getting you squared away... 10 years and only 69k ? I drive about 20k a year, so hoping this truck will make at least 250k... This is my first Ford truck and my only previous Ford was a 1982 Escort hatchback... Needless to say that vehicle left me stranded worse than Gilligan!!!
