2007 F150 Cowling
My cowlings keep popping out of place; in particular, the driver's side. No big deal since the truck is still under warranty. I've been back to my dealer's shop just about every other week for them to pop them back into place. They have tried removing the hood and resetting them, replacing them with brand new cowlings, and even replacing every part including the wipers, wiper blades, washer fluid lines, et cetera. I figure that for the next 5 years or 60,000 miles, I will be at the dealership every week or other week having them fix some piece of plastic or another. Even the wiper blades have been changed under their bumper to bumper warranty. I'm there so much that the service order writer no longer calls me "Mister" - we're on a first name basis.
The truck is fine mechanically. The engine & transmission does what it is suppose to do - which is get me where I want to go.
It's all the little things that seem to fall off or not function like they are suppose to. I've even had stake post covers pop off while I'm driving.
Anyone else had a cup holder not hold a cup or any other little annoying features not work?

TSB 07-24-5/Drivers side cowl panel popped-up/Built before 11/12/2007
Two weeks ago I brought my 07 in for this problem. The cowl has "J" hooks about 2" long that hook onto a flange plate under the cowl. The flange plate has to be adjusted and the cowl will not pop up again,if adjusted correctly! Mine has yet to pop up since I had it adjusted!

My driver's side cowl piece is a little flimsy as well, and that's on a 2004. It is but one example of the plastic trim pieces of our trucks. In short, they suck!
They all tend to fit rather poorly, and once the elements take their toll and the white haze starts, it's time to completely recondition or replace them.
Ford really didn't do well with the trim line for these trucks.

If the adjustment doesn't work you can put a screw in it. I did this and I posted directions on how to do this. Mine has been done for over 3 years now and it hasn't moved. I just pulled them all off and sanded and painted them to get rid of the crappy faded black that was there. They look like new and I did re-install the screw that I put in place over 3 years ago. There are several other members here that have used my fix. Takes all of 2 minutes and will cost about 5 cents and save hours of aggravation at the dealer.

Consider yourself lucky. There are many people with this problem and their dealer cannot fix it. My dealer replaced my cowling under warranty and it still popped loose. Add this to the fading and white residue that collects in the wells on the drivers side and I chose to fix it myself. My dealer is 30 miles away and I usually have to drop the truck off and pick it up later. This has been the only major issue with the truck in over 67,000 miles. The dealer did replace the front rotors under warranty and fixed the leather seat on the driver side, but thats about it. When your out of warranty, you look for ways to fix stupid items that pop up without going to the dealership.
