Question Remote Keyless Entry

Has anybody installed factory remote keyless entry. I was told by my dealer that is was hard to do and would not be worth the hassle for it. I think it should just plug into a factory wire harness. Could someone give me some info on what it takes and cost.

I think the dealer is right. You can get a keyless remote aftermarket for $60 or so. Looks fairly easy to hookup. I've seen them on the net.

Cool

Good advice. You can probably even get a good full blown alarm with keyless entry installed for what the dealer will charge you for keyless entry alone.

I have priced the dealer for alarm with keyless entry and they told me 480 or something like that. I am definitly going to get an aftermarket one. They have more security features anyway.

I had a remote keyless entry system with starter lockout installed on my previous vehicle (95 Explorer) for $80-$85. That included the installation, it consisted of a couple of plugs/wiring harness and a module for the starter lockout. Took about an hour to put in with Me standing there watching.

Go for an aftermarket one.
