Pioneer DEH-P7200 Head Unit

Anyone out there have a Pioneer DEH-P7200 HU installed. My daughter had a NIB one and gave it to me. I don't know much about audio eq. but this looks like a "cool" system. Does she think the Stock OEM system sounds bad or maybe she thinks I'll loan her MY truck if she gives me the HU....Hmmmmmmm

I may get it installed if I get some feedback on the unit.

What? No one has the P-7200! It looks like a nice unit and it was free.

I have the 7400MP...I'd think it would be very similar. I think it is great. Mine are connected to a pair of MB Qaurt 6.5" components and the sound is great, even without an amp. I installed mine myself. Get the harnesses and it is a very easy install.

Actually a pretty darn good HU. I am a pioneer guy and I have always had good luck with them, and have been tremedously satisfied. They are a slap to install too. I bought a Scoshe install kit with a wiring harness kit for my 7400. The Scoshe kit is really easy, all the wires to match up to the Pioneer ones (same colors and everything). The most painful thing about the whole deal was getting the stock unit out. It was in really tight, but I refused to be denied. I had to use the DIN U tools, but I went to a local car audio shop and just asked to borrow theirs for 2 minutes and removed it. Did not even have to buy the tools. I also have a DEH-P5200 in my 68 Stang and and I love it too. It is very similar to your unit, and I am running an amp and a 12 Disc changer off mine. The HU was the easier part of that install. I had to spend some quality time with a Dremel to cut the metal insert for the radio. For your truck, just get a good install kit and do it yourself, the kit and the harness are less than $30 together, and you can do it in less than an hour. Good luck.

I have the 8200 and it kicks a$$, the newer models have changed virtually nothing, the only thing about the 7200 is it has front and rear preamps but no sub preamp, so u have to use the rear if u want to add subs. The only thing about some of the new pioneers is they have MP3 capability, a big plus, but a far cry from a free 7200, so basically, that unit kicks a$$....

Thanks you for the comments. I installed the unit today. I really like the sound. I have one question. When I have the truck running with the lights on (don't know if that matters) and the 7200 turned OFF I get a nice display of the clock which matches the dash nice (brightness, color etc). My question is why afer a short amount of time the background on the display goes from dark to Bright white and then back to black, kind of in a continual cycle? That is the only thing that bothers me and at night it is down right annoying! Can I change that or not?

Talking

The Unit is in the "Demo Mode" actually reverse demo. With the key in the acc posistion and the unit off press and hold the #5 button on the preset selects on the bottom of the unit until you hear a beep. This will cancel the demo mode.
