Could someone tell me if a Double Din cd/cs head unit is an exact replacement in the '01 Lightning, or are there mods involved? Also, will I need to buy a Ford wiring harness? THANKS!

 

I have an '01 SCrew, so not sure if it is exactly like the L although I would think it would be. If so, the factory deck is kinda wedge shaped as is the "hole" that it fits in. The inside of the dash is plastic and can be modified to make a DD fit with a roto tool. I remember seeing a post not to long ago from a guy that has done this install. Do a search on double din and you should find some pictures.

 

Look thru the posts here, someone did mount a double din in an F150, he did have to trim a little plastic to get it to fit I believe.
