Thumbs up Add the amp

I am definitely no expert, but everything I've read on these boards seems to say that you'll get much cleaner power from an amp then a HU. Just my opinion though.

Not sure what the ratings are on your JBL's but odds are an amp will help clear up the sound, especially at loud levels. I just finished installing my Kicker ZX460 to push my 4 Polk DX7's and it make a lot of difference versus running the speaks off the HU.

I hooked up two of my pioneer ts-a6855 to a 80 watt amp just to see if there was any difference and I would have to say that there is. The bass didn't change but they can go incredibly loud now without distortion. They also give off a very clean sound.
