Antennas

Hi all,

I just purchased a '98 F150 XLT 4X4 S/Cab Flareside which rides quite high and is scraping the antenna on the underground parking door/pipes and stuff.

What replacement antennas have others picked up and how good is the reception with a shorter antenna?

PS- This is a great, informative site! Good job!

I had the same problem and replaced it with a euro style plastic antenna from Pep Boys. Reception was about the same but the antenna would bend in the wind while driving. Replaced it with a shorty antenna that is metal and does not bend. They have different colors available and again the reception is just as good. They have their own web site that you can purchase one at.

Just bought my Supercrew, and have scraping in my work garage?! When replacing the antenna, are the connector/adaptors fairly universal?

you need a ford-specific adapter which either comes with the antenna (most have all 3 and you just trash the other two), or with the ones sold in the imk i posted, you order the specific one you need. the one i got wasn't as cheap as a lot but it is very nice...worth the 30 bucks
