I am simply trying to "pop off" the plastic mount cover over my '97's antenna attachment in the right fender.
This is what mine looks like...



I've tried to pry "just" the plastic up off the antenna plate (which has 3 metal screws in it and I am hoping to tighten them down 'after' attaching a stubby to this) so i can change out the antenna but so FAR I cannot get the plastic cover off.

I have tried prying it up and was sure to pry up the plastic and not the metal plate. No joy. I've tried to twist it off (using a cloth over the cover and grips), no joy.
How much force does this require? I'm strong and I'm afraid I'm pulling the screws up even more.

GREATLY appreciate any thoughts or suggestions (even on what stubby to put in?)
