I put my cobra 29LTD on that big flat panel right under the steering wheel. And that's a pretty big radio. It's close to being in the way of my knees but I never hit it or kick it. I'm satisfied with it being there. You can't see any wires

I mounted mine to the console so It was easy to reach.

Mounted one under a aftermarket stereo in a 2006 xl with a little fabrication turned out real good

I have the flow through console, so I wedged it between the seat and that. Fits snug so it doesnt move around. Easy to get to, but out of the way.

My CB install in 2012 f150

Timberdoodles 12-07-2012 08:15 AM

I've got my equipment, including a Uniden PC68 CB with PA speaker, F150 hood mount for the Firestick antenna, and all wiring & coax, but I'm wondering how to get all the wires from the PA speaker and the coax from hood mount antenna, "into" the cab? I've installed CB's in most of my other, older vehicles, but these newer trucks are sealed up pretty good anymore. Without having to take apart the dash or whatever, what is the easiest and/or best place to get the wiring into the cab of my '02 F150 King Ranch? I've seen some places on newer trucks, a '12 model comes to mind, but haven't seen any for the old body style.

Thanks in advance guys! I'm on disability, and certainly NOT a contortionist any more also. I will get things done, just might take me a little longer is all.

Did I ask for assistance with the above in the wrong way or something? Can anybody please help me out with getting antenna coax and wiring into the cab of an '02?

When I was running wiring into my truck I started just running coat hangers through the factory rubber grommets in the firewall until I found a good one to go through. Tape the wiring to the end of the wire and send it through. Takes some work, but it eventually got through. Alternatively, I had a shop install a security system on my truck and they drilled another hole in my firewall for their wiring, so I've been running through that recently. That way, you would have a hole exactly where you want that is easy to run through and goes where you want it.

I cut a hole in my firewall using a 1in hole saw so I could run wires through there own grommet instead of trying to shove them through an already full grommet.
