'02 Screw HID projecter upgrade/retrofit
So i've seen alot of 04+ F150 HID projector upgrades and then the "bulb-tastic" blinder kits.. I'm not one for doing things 1/2 way, so after about a year of debating, i finally decided That it was time to upgrade the headlights in the truck as i can't see ***** around here at night, and if its :eek: Oh and not to mention since TRS had their FX-R kit on sale, it was an even better time.
I've got a new set of FoMoCo Lightning headlights that I will be doing the swap into. Since i haven't found a single thread doing this on any of the older trucks, i'll take pictures along the way of the entire process.. Link to the kit i purchased: http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...eed27988a34979 I'll get photo's of the Lightning headlights w/ sylvania silver-stars tomorrow and post them up for before shots. WORK HAS BEGUN starting at post 18: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4311534-post18.html |
cant wait to see this. 6k or 8k and 35w or 55w?
|
IMO anything higher than 4300K just looks horrible. So.. I went with a 4300k 35w system. Mostly so i dont' completely blind all of the on-coming traffic.
|
Cool. All about what YOU want.

agreed. I'll leave the purple lights to the honda boys :) |
Thank you in advance. I too was torn for many months before I decided to do a retrofit of FX projectors on my previous ranger. It took months and hours but the payoff of a sharp cutoff line, bright white (4300K) and lots of looks and comments from others really made it worth it. A big plus is that I was leaving for school in the morning when it was dark and stayed so late that it was dark again when I drove home out into the dark country. I will empathize with you now on the amount of work needing to be done because I was the only guy on the ranger forums to have done it and that was a great feeling.
Good luck and please keep us updated with pictures and the story as time goes on. |
Well.. 5 days after getting the "shipped" notification and tracking number they FINALLY put the package in the mail.. so it should arrive tomorrow. I'm going to try and get a good bit of work done on the conversion before i have to leave for a work trip on the 19th for 16 days.

Subscribing. I look forward to this. I want to do this but not sure if I am up to the challenge. Good luck on this.
|
Well, if all goes well i'll hopefully be able to get the conversion done with about 3 days of work.
I'm still not sure if i'm going to keep the chrome reflector look (my truck is white) or do a black-out w/ real carbon fiber laminated over the chrome reflector w/ some angel-eyes... soo many choices. |
I cant wait to see this. exactly what I want to do.

I got my HID kit last week, i also have Lighting heads. I can't figure out how the new bulb mounts to the head lamp. The retaing clip for mine don't fit with the new bulb.. frustration abounds..
