Thumbs up Auxiliary / Backup Lights

I know this has been done and I added it to one of the How-To's, but just wanted to offer something.

I did this install on an OBS 02 SuperCrew. I did it the "simple" way I guess. Mounted them and wired them to an independent switch so I control their use at all times. Didn't want them automatically coming on every time I back up.

Followed the suggestions though. Bought a set of "Burners" Fog lights from Wal-Mart (rectangle shape and only a couple inches big). Loomed all my wiring and followed the existing wires from the back to the front of the truck. That was a task since on my drivers side, the electrical is run on the inside of the frame for the majority of the run. That was fun.

Here are some pics though:

The switch. Was very pleased to be able to place it here. Very happy:

The lights:

The light output:

Let me know what you think or if you have any questions. Thanks.

Looks great I have the same style setup on my truck. Very very useful with my truck since it is lifted with smoked tails.

Looks good. I just saw those lights at Walmart a couple hours ago. I'm surprised at how much they actually light up for being cheapies. What did you mount them to?

Yeah I was very impressed. I took some day pictures today and I'll load them when I get home tonight so you can see the exact lights. One of them already has some condensation in it so I need to dry it out and use some silicone on it. But they came with the switch, the fused power wire, everything. I obviously purchased some additional primary wire to make my runs, since theirs weren't long enough for my applications.

I actually just used 2 self-tapping screws on each light and mounted them directly to the underside of the metal bumper. I flushed the backside of the bracket with the back lip of the bumper. I'll take some pictures of that when I get home. Forgot to take that one.

What did you expect for $20. I think I might put mine on the bottom of the crossmember of my trailer hitch.

Here are mine. V-LEDS reverse lights and the LED license plate frame gizmo. Lots of light!

DarkShadow, Yeah I can't believe I forgot to seal them before I put them on. I took the time to seal my brand new headlights and didn't think about the cheapo lights. Oh well.

Squiffo, Wow, thats quite a bit of light! And thats a sweet looking boat!

Thanks. I had the White Night lights initially but it was a pain when having to switch out hitches, bike carriers etc. The V-LEDS are awesome.

Boat model is a Flying Tiger 10M. The graphics are a decal wrap and the boat is a MILF magnet! I added the Rite Ride Air Bags and it tows great with the bags at 40#.

Squiffo, yeah the boat talk is a bit over my head but it does look sweet. And being happily married I'm in no need of a MILF magnet, but whatever floats your boat (pun intended)

Jdlowes, What did you use to mount yours to the hitch?

I'm happily married to but the MILF's kids like the boat and the MILF's like my crew apparently!
