Thumbs down AIRAID WARNING

Just got the airaid yesterday and put it in, pretty easy install and it looks great. I saw in a previous post some one said the seal between mounting bracket and MAF was not airtight. It is a metal to metal mount and I thought there should be a gasket provided but there isn't. Anyway, I put a light in the MAF after mounting and there were a couple of places light showed through. I took it apart and siliconed the bracket. To everybody who has one, you need to check and see.

I got mine used from another member who posted it on the board a couple of weeks ago, maybe I missed it in the box, I'll look when I get home.

Johnny Bonds, I hope you used Oxygen sensor safe "silicone". Never use regular silicone around any part of the inlet unless you like changing hego (oxygen) sensors.

The stuff I used is a latex base, there is no odor to it at all, but I'm probably going to scrape it off and find or make a gasket for it. Another thing I noticed on the airaid that I thought might be be a problem is the location of the hose to the PVC valve. It is located on the up wind side of the sensor as compared to the downwind side of the stock intake. It seems to me that this would tend to contaminate the sensor. The kit I got didn't have the factory instructions nor a diagram. Did I hook the wrong hose to the wrong inlet?????

Just got off phone with airaid. They told me the older kit does not come with a gasket and they had never heard of a problem with sealing until recently. I asked if I could order one and they said it wasn't available. They suggested making a gasket. One of the earlier posts said his came with a gasket. I also asked about which hose connected to the PVC and it is the one closest to the filter, they faxed a copy of parts list on part #400-109, 97-99 4.6 and 5.4 engines, no gasket is listed. The diagram they faxed also shows the inlet closest to the filter is for the PVC.
