Need a Solid Performance Mod???????

My truck is now chipped, has E fans and an Intake. I am looking for one more good peformance mod that is not crazy expensive..........like no more that 3 bills. I have been contemplating the Plasma Booster. Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of it and is it worth the dinero. I would like something in the 5 to 10 horses range that I can install myself. Suggestions????????

Im in the same boat you are pretty much. Im getting a tune in a couple weeks. We both have the same mods other that that.

I was thinking getting a bigger throttle body. I started a thread a couple days ago asking about what people thought. No one answered. Maybe its not a good option. Although, it seems like an easy common sense mod to me.

Supposedly the bang for the bucks mods are

1. tuner (Xcalibrator with Troyer’s custom tunes)
2. intake (Airforce One)
3. exhaust (Magnaflow cat-back)
4. under-drive pulleys
5. e-fans
6. etc

Hi Screwed;

Hmmm - for three bills or less, go with the underdrive pulleys. If you notice your idle voltage is too low, you will need to get the idle speed bumped up in your 'chip', if possible. But this mod reduces parasitic losses much like the efans do.

Don't suppose you can source a 3" Magnaflow SISO catback at that pricepoint unless it's used ( or not stainless).

I haven't heard enough about the plasma booster to convince me it's worth it.

The throttle body would not produce any meaningful improvements at your mod level. Same with fuel injectors/fuel pump upgrades, except in the case as described in this thread ( third post down ):

You might want to search around the forum a little before you make the buy

All of our vehicles wear Magnaflow - every single one of them - simply because it does the best job.

Talking Flow Rumble

My Flowmaster has a nice rumble, grumble to it. It is the 3 chamber so it is not to loud at low speeds like the ricers, just low rumble, and when you get on it gets loud and lets you know. I like it alot.

It's been quite a few years since I was involved in Hi Perf builds. Is anyone still using nitrous?

There are some people using nitrous-mainly the guys in the Turbo section. I think Neal is/was using it too.

Nitrous isnt real popular around here-mainly its just bolt ons, then boost-then maybe spray. But it would be something different and out of the ordinary for the most part around here-which is cool.
