Installed wireless entry keypad today..
Got the Ford wireless keyless entry keypad today and installed. Installation breaks down like this:
Install of keypad itself - About 20 seconds
Programming of unit - About 45 seconds
I installed this on my Supercrew as it was one feature I really liked on my wife's Sport Trac. Works just like the one on the Trac. You can program your own code also, which I did. It now has the same code as the Trac, so I don't have to remember anything new.
It is compatible with most Ford's, model years 98-Up with keyless entry from the factory.
This is handy, as a person whom shall remain annonymous, locked the keys in the Supercrew just last week. A one hour drive for me just to hit the unlock key on my FOB. Great mod for those of you with other late model Ford's in the driveway that don't have it.
Got it from my usual source:

Yes, it's basically another FOB. You can stick this anywhere. If the truck is custom outside, you can put it somewhere inside the tailgate, or figure out a way to mount it under the bumper or something for those emergency "oops" situations.
To program, make sure you have both key fobs that came with you vehicle. Insert the key into the ignition and switch from off to run (not starting the engine) eight times in ten seconds. This will cycle the lock to let you know you did it right. Now, press any key on the first FOB. The locks will cycle, then press any key on second FOB, again, locks will cycle. Now enter the permanent access code from the card that came with the keypad, and the locks will again cycle. Turn the ignition off and the lock will cycle for the final time, letting you know programming was successful. If you want to program your own personal 5 digit code, you simply enter the permanent access code from the card, press the 1*2 key followed by the five digit code of your choice. You can have one personal code at a time. The permanent access code can always be used, whether you have a personal number programmed or not.
Operation is easy. Press the 5 digits that represent your code and the driver door unlocks. Pressing the 3*4 key within three seconds will open all doors. To lock, press the 7*8 key and the 9*0 key at the same time. All doors lock. You do not need to enter any code to lock the doors. That’s about it. A very quick install and program. Less than a minute if you know all of the above first. Enjoy!

I don't know personally but have seen some posts that would indicate that the hardwired keypad will not deactivate the alarm. I assume the wireless one will probably be the same. I talked to a local Ford parts guy and he thought it should allow you to deactivate the alarm but thats not what some on this forum indicate (search for alarm and you can probably find some of these threads). You may be able to unlock the doors but if you can't deactivate the alarm it will go off when you open the door. I went with the factory keypad in the door handle because it wasn't much different in cost, though installation is a little more work, and it gives the truck the factory look vs an add-on look. What I wondered about the stick on keypad was how you changed the battery when it dies? Anybody know the answer?
For what it's worth, I have the factory installed keyless entry keypad on my '02 Lariat (standard equipment for that year) and also the Ford alarm. The alarm goes off as soon as I press one of the keys. I talked to the service manager at the dealer where I bought it, and he said that it's supposed to do that. It would be nice if it would have a delay and then by sensing the proper code was entered, the alarm would automatically disable. Like, what would you do if the battery in the key fob went south and the only way to open the door was with the keypad? Would you drive home with the horn honking constantly? Makes you kind of wonder......
You know, to be honest, I am not sure because as soon as the alarm started going off, I disabled it with my key fob, and I didn't let it continue. Maybe I should do that. But as we all know, the first instinct is to shut the damn thing off! haha.
As for where to buy, any Ford dealer will have the part you need. They'll have the original factory part, and they will have the stick on part. Personally, I'd go for the original equipment part. There will be a lot more to the installation as opposed to the stick on, but it will never come off, and it will be integrated into the door handle like mine is.
I'm gonna have to try and see if it disables the alarm after I enter the code...........

Please keep me posted with your results.
I agree with the factory part, somehow I'm not very comfortable trusting a $100+ magnet on the side of my truck. Further, I can imagine someone taking it while I'm surfing just to watch me either break my window or walk without shirt & shoes to the nearest phone.

You know, even if it doesn't shut off the alarm, there's always the little button under the dash. I know, I would hate to do that every time too. I'll let you know what happens. In the meantime, if anyone else knows if the alarm gets disabled after completing the keypad code sequence, let us know.
Even if I have to listen to the alarm until I get inside the vehicle, it's still better than mounting that ugly lock box to the inside of my fender or on the bumper just to have a place to lock my keys.
Somehow, I still find it hard to believe that the factory alarm and factory keypad are not compatable...
Someone have an answer?
