Pole Hill Rd. on a Saturday morning
My lady had to work this morning so I thought I'd escape the heat for a bit and head up into the mountains. About 30 minutes from my house, I got to Pole Hill Road (between Lyons, CO and Estes Park, CO). Pretty tame stuff as long as you know how to pick a good line.
Here is a little off-shoot of the trail called "The Overlook". When you get to the end, you get a great view of Estes Park, CO:

When I'm in the truck, stuff like this feels pretty sweet. When I get home and look at the pictures, it looks LAME. Oh well, I had fun!

On the way back to the highway, I got behind a stock Taco TRD and stock Jeep JK. If this wasn't their first time on a trail, I hope it was their last. At every obstacle, they took the "sandy" bypass and they were going so slow.
Not that I wanted to go fast.

have you tried going up to cripple creek, co yet/
just spent the weekend up there and took shelf road btween there and canon city it's about 75 min and all shale (slippery)when you hit the brakes you can feel the give under the tires and it's about a 100 foot drop in some places
you are actualy driving on a shelf around the side of the mountain
1 lane for both directions with hair pin turns
can only go about 15-20 mph, also portions go down the bottom of the canyon along the creek bed
gotta watch for flash floods while on this one
i'll post pict's as soon as i down load then

Nice, I know what you mean by the pics not looking as good on the computer. I found a new fishin' hole the other day that I'll have to get more pictures of...might go this evening after work and get some dinner while I'm there.
