I purchased a all in one overhead dvd system for my 05 xlt crew cab. Can I use the wires for teh overhead dome light to power the unit. I am using infrared headphone so it doesnt need to be tapped into the speakers.

No. Run to either underdash or to the radio harness.

 

I have the unit in hand and all I need is a 12v source. Where are the closest ones to the roof panel?Are there any 12V +/- power sources in the harness on the drivers side sill plate?

 

SO i think the Light green/ purple wire is the 12V and the ground is black/ lt green will this work?

 

Lt. Green/purple is a 12v+ source. But again (LISTEN THIS TIME) run underdash or to radio harness.
