OEM navigation question

i am thinking about getting an oem navigation for my 06 f150 but i have a couple of questions.
1. what all do i need to get the navigation system and radio to work in my truck

2. i have the stock radio (without the auxilary input), not the 6 disc changer (with the auxilary input), if i replace it wiht the factory nav unit can i plug my ipod directly into the nav unit or will i still have to use an fm transmitter?

3. do all the factory navs have to be programmed to your truck, and if so where can i do this and how much does it cost roughly?

4. and finally where is the best place to purchase one? preferably a reliable source

any answeres would be great thanks

1. You will need an antennae adapter, but it should come with the radio. You will also need to install the GPS unit, I believe in the cowl.

2. If you get one from a reputable dealer they will need to program it for your specific truck, but the wiring harness 'should' be plug and play. I say should because I am not an expert.

3. If you buy a new one as I said before it should be programmed when you get it. Otherwise you are looking at approximately 300.00 depending on the shop. Some will not do a re-flash because they have been accused of 'breaking' a broken radio.

4. NothingbutFord is great to deal with, he is a bit expensive compared to eBay, but you get what you pay for and your radio will be covered by your existing warranty. He will program the radio to your truck with your options. He is great to deal with but I have not seen him on the boards in a while.
