At any rate I'm not bashing on Pioneer at all. They are both great units.
They both run on a hard drive system. If you compare the Z2 to the DNX7100 you gain things with each one.
Both are upgradeable with bluetooth, HD radio, XM, Sirius, cd changers, ipod adapters.
Although the Z2 gives you some room on the drive to store you music this really doesn't matter to me since you can use the USB cable that comes out of the DNX7100 to run a four port hub and plug in four USB thumb drives or you can even run an external hard drive up to 300gig with an inverter to drive it. Or hell....add an ipod
Not sure if the Z2 includes the USB but the DNX7100 does. The Excellon pieces have two USB ports.
Kenwood had a great TV tuner while the Pioneer has been discontinued.
Both allow you to include your picture for the background
Pioneer allows your bluetooth to work with the navigation and phone numbers while the Kenwood/Garmin does not. Honestly I don't think I ever used it too much to guide by phone numbers.
Kenwood's bluetooth works GREAT!. My previous Pioneer bluetooths sucked. But that was a very common issue with them. I believe the issues have been corrected with the newer bluetooth kit.
Both the Z1 and DNX7100 have 2 volt outputs for the RCAs but the Excellon pieces have 5 volts. Makes a nice difference on the audio output.
To bypass Kenwood for video and POI lockout you need to ground a single parking brake wire. Not sure if they figured out the Z2 yet.
The Kenwood DNX7100 runs $1250 while the Z2 is $1800 through kcautosound.com
May be other differences. Just going by what Travis had sent me in an email.
