Install Advice Needed

I just purchased a kenwood dnx 7100,Wiring harness/dash kit, sirus reciever, Bluetooth kit, and back up camera. I am pretty confident on installing it myself but I am curious on a few things. I will list them here and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

1) How do I make the steering wheel controls work with the unit.

2) How do I bypass the safety feature on the DVD so I can watch movies whenever.

3) Best place to mout the sirus and bluetooth stuff.

4) Best route to run the wire for the back up camera.

And any other install suggestions would be a plus. I am planning on adding an amp and sub in the next 2 months as well. Thanks again. L8tr Dale

covers a good bit of your questions. Ask the ones not covered in that thread. Travis (kcautosound) might know if you can use your steering wheel controls.

I installed three DNX7100 radios today with 17" monitors in a fleet of E350 multi-passenger vans.

1) How do I make the steering wheel controls work with the unit.
You need a PAC SWI-JACK interface. The interface has a blue with yellow stripe wire that matches the same wire on the on the harness to your 7100. If you go to PAC's site you will find vehicle specific wiring and programming for your truck however the programming button functions always seems to be off. I installed a DDX7019 with nav monday and the ****ions were all off. Took a bunch of trial and error to get it working for source selection and track skip but it worked fine after.

2) How do I bypass the safety feature on the DVD so I can watch movies whenever.
Kenwood makes it soooo simple. Just ground the parking brake wire on your unit and you're done.

3) Best place to mout the sirus and bluetooth stuff.
Your bluetooth adapter is small. It'll tuck just fine behind the heater controls. I have put it there before. As far as the Sirius I believe the last F150 I did I put it behind the glove box. Can't remember. Been a month.

4) Best route to run the wire for the back up camera.
I ran the last one towards the back of the cab to a grommet that run through the floor. I sliced a X in the middle of the grommet and ran the cable through it. Ran the cord down the frame with the existing harnesses to the rear of the truck.

Hope this helps you out.

And any other install suggestions would be a plus. I am planning on adding an amp and sub in the next 2 months as well. Thanks again. L8tr Dale

Thanks for the replies. This will at least point me in the right direction. I was having a hard time locating PAC's actual site that you were reffering to. I can find the harness just not there site. So what type of "trial and error" stuff were you reffering to. If its not too much trouble for you to explain that a little deeper and maybe give me a link to PAC's site. Thanks again Dale

Here's PAC's website HERE

Here's a direct link to the installation, wiring and programming for your F150 Here

I'm trying to remember but I don't think I have ever put a SWI-JACK in an F150. Have done it on quite a few Edges, Focus, Superduties but don't think in an F150 yet. Never fails. I show up at the dealer to put a radio in and the wheel has controls after I asked the dealer if it did. Then the dealer never wants to spend the $60 for the wheel interface. So I don't put it in.

Travis if you dont mind will you go to this link and make sure this is the one I will need. This seller doesnt have the dnx 7100 listed but the pack site does. They also have a version number listed on the pac site where I cant find which version number this seller has or if it will even matter. Thanks for your help..... Dale
