Eclipse AVN 5435

I've had my Eclipse AVN 5435 for a while with no problems. However, lately its been acting up in navigation mode. It seems to lose its cordinates A LOT! I was traveling in the Gulf of Mexico today according to my headunit. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Check to see if anythings blocking the gps antenna, and did you recalibrate it after you put on the new tires?

Actually serious. Hit the menu button then select settings, the top selection is for calibration select it then it will give you 2 options the second is for tire change. Hit that button then drive for a bit it will recalibrate the speed pulse vs rate of travel.

Huh? Why would you have to calibrate your GPS for a tire change?

When the unit is first installed it self calibrates itself between the vss pulse and distance traveled by gps to make the vss accurate and the map movement smooth as well as stay accurate when no gps signal is present (tunnels etc). Once it self calibrates it locks the vss setting. If you change tire size the vss signal will no longer be accurate and need to be recalibrated. You can check this by hitting the info button then the system check and see if the speed is accurate and if the vss is studying or complete.

Thanks for that tidbit there nothinbutaford! You're a great source of info on these things!

I've had mine for over a year and have never ventured into that menu set... I shall tomorrow though (if I remember).

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
