Hi lees, I believe I have the identical shift fork issue you had on your 2003 f150. Your pictures of the fix are awesome, I have searched for years for stuff this helpful. Any chance you could give me some additional info on the tear-down and reinstall? I had the truck in the shop last week and they came up with a P1838 code, transfer case shift motor fault. I changed out the shift motor but no fix. The truck has always gone in to 4x4 but as soon as I put a load on it, sand on the beach for example, it 'bangs out' of 4x4. I have changed the actuator & solenoids. All indications are that it's the 'shift fork'.I have a new one but I am reluctant to attempt the repair. I'm good with my hands and have done all my own repairs. Can an average guy with "slightly" above average mechanical aptitude do this job on his back in the driveway? I appreciate ANY advice you can give. This has been an issue for YEARS.Thanks!
