    I have a 2003 ford f 150 4.6L manual transmission
and am doing a 2003 ford f150 5.4L engine swap, my question is will this manual transmission bolt right up ? Or will I need something else? Thanks

Good Afternoon. I have been looking around lots of forums but have only found the most info regarding my swap and I'm hoping you could shed a little light on my project.

I have a 2007 Lincoln Town Car 4.6L at first I was gonna jam a 6.8 V10 in there but right now its to much to do so I'm wondering if its possible to follow these notes for a 4.6 to 5.4 swap for the F150 for the Lincoln ?
Same PCM and all that good stuff. 2v or 3v 5.4
please pm me and I can provide an email if that's easier

    Thanks

Hey JMC, been thinking about doing a similar 4.6 to 5.4 swap in my 01 f150. I was just wondering if you could tell me how well your M50D transmission has held up. I see a lot of people saying it can't hold up to the extra stress. Is yours still going strong? Is it stock? Was it new or used? Thanks for your time.

    Hello JMC,
I'm hoping you have some time to answer some questions for me; I've read several posts on engine swaps and you are the guy I would like to talk to...
I have a 2007 F150 Supercrew with a 4.6L, which isn't enough power. Would the swap go any smoother if I buy a crate 5.4 long block for the same model year? Also I read some of the posts about torque converter issues; will buying a torque converter for the 4R75W transmission and putting it on 4R70W solve the problem, or do I need to do more?
Lastly, will the wiring harnesses match up closer if the engine is for the same model year? Just a few things I had thought about, I'm sure there is more that I haven't but would like to get some basics covered up front. Any answers you can give me is greatly appreciated... Ben

Hello, There was a mention in an older thread that you were essentially the resident expert on swapping the M5R2 for a ZF in the 04-08 f150's.
I have a 4.2L v6 2008 and was wondering what all was necessary for this swap. Also there has been some conflicting information, but does the truck need a body lift/tunnel expansion to get the transmission in or will it fit as-is?

I have been planning to do this for some time, but have been waiting for college to finish before I got working on it. So I'm trying to get my ducks in a row and hunt around for a transmission/parts before I'm done.

Don't want to be a bother, but I was wondering if you had a chance to look at my last post in the 4.6 to 5.4 Swap Notes thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/4978148-post205.html. I have already pulled the cluster, lock cylinder and computer from the donor truck and plan to go ahead and pull the ignition switch and swap all of that over to the running truck rather than having the 4.6 PCM re-tuned. Is there any reason this will not work? Are there other items that have to be swapped as well? I figured no harder than these items were to change, it would be the easiest way.

    Good Morning JMC
I have not been on line for better than a year now. Last post was in regards to the new Gyphon Controller I bought in Jan 2011. So the old 1999 F150 4.6 has made it another year but it is ready to die any day now. 190,000 mile on it. It still runs good the gas milage still stinks and the power is gone. So now it is really time to step back and say do I buy a newer truck, do I rebuild the 4.6 or do I replace it with a 5.4. You really seem to be the GRU of swaps so your opinion is valuable. I am looking for more gas milage in the new days of $5 gasoline. You have stated that the 1999 5.4 is the best engine to swap to. Is this still the case? Can I now swap to a 2006 or newer engine? ANy other suggestions would be appreciated. I think that I am budgetting around 6K to make all of the modification. This does not include any labor. Am I way off base and should just bite the bullet and go buy a newer used truck to get a better overal package?
    Again your input is appreciated.
