Talking Finally!!! Tonneau working!!!

Well, after more than a year with the power tonneau module broken, a friend of mine that owns a stereo shop in Ensenada, made the circuit with a bunch of relays, diodes, transistors, switches and what not, so... ITS FINALLY WORKING!!!

Here are the pictures:

It doesn't look pretty, but once the metal panels are on, it will be like OEM for sure, will post a video later of the tonneau working.

Good to know you miss our little town, things are slow, but it is a lot safer than Tijuana...

You are welcome to drink some beers and eat some carne asada at your house in Ensenada, just send a PM .

I believe you are referring to the crimp on connectors at the relays, the blue plastic its just the insulation, so there will be no shorts between them.

That's really a slick fix! Do you have a schematic for it? Mine has started acting up and I occasionally have to re-seat the 15 amp fuse to get it to open, could be on the way out. Are the modules no longer available or you just wanted to go the diy route?

Hi Jim!

Wish I had the skills to pull a job like that... :o

Actually, it was a friend that owns a stereo shop in my city who did repair the tonneau circuit, after more than a year searching for a spare module, finally gave up and turned to my friend, he may be able to provide the schematics he made, but he will charge for it, he spent almost 4 months on this job.

Send me a PM if you are interested, so i can hook you up with mi friend.

That is very awesome! Do you think it would work with a Viper alarm? Such as opening and closing?

Yes sir

The way my friend made the wiring, all it needs are one pulse up, one pulse down, which are provided by most alarm manufacturers.

I don't know if I'll need it or not. Plus if I have to build a circuit I'll probably do it differently so his circuit would really only help with the logic. But I do think it's real neat that he was able to fix your truck that way.
