New module on order

Well, it has been a week today since the dealer got my 'Wood. They replaced the pinch strips, ordered the wrong weather stripping, then ordered the right one. They had the body shop do the work on the pinch strips and weatherstrips, and when it was returned to the dealer,, guess what? It still worked intermittently. Solution?? yep, you guessed it, a new module. Lucky this was under warranty as I have had an '06 Towncar for a week now!
While it has been in the shop gas has dropped below 2.00 a gallon for reg. All in all not a bad experience!

I finally got off vacation and am ready to fix my tonneau cover. So I call the dealer to order the module (2C6Z-14B450-AB) and they said the list price is $228. With my Ford employee discount they'll knock off 10%, but still it would be $216 with tax. I searched around the web and found one for $170. What is the price all of you paid for it and where did you buy the module from?

module price.

That's the same module i bought from Ford. Sorry that is the right price. $228 list but i bought it through the shop i work for and our cost was actually $150.05. My parts guy miss qouted me when i ordered it and i wrote that blog before i got the bill. I also ended up doing it my self instead of paying the shop to do it. It only took about an hour to do. the step by step instructions are on my photo album "Az Blackwood" if they help. :santa:

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to look at the pictures in your album. I found it on some website for $170, so I guess that's about as good a price as I'll get.

Ooops, I can't find your photo album. How do I access it? Is it on this site? The photo gallery does not seem to have a way of searching by name.

Can someone check this part number for me? I ordered the tonneau cover module (2C6Z-14B450-AB) over the internet and it arrived today. The invoice says that part number, but the part itself has a slightly different number on it. I am hoping it is not the old part number (and therefore the part number revision that fails). The part number on the part itself is 2C6T-14B450-AE. Did I get ripped off or what?

Thanks for the info. Did the new part you put on have the number 2C6Z-14B450-AB written on it?

Those A holes!!!!! I bet they have a stockpile of the original modules somewhere and this Ford dealer I bought it from got a good deal on them and is trying to sell them. I do not want to put the same revision level of module on and then 2 years down the road the same damn thing happens. Arghhhhh!!!!!!!! Now I have to contact them and send it back and get my money back. Son-of-a-.......... I'll have to look these part numbers up at work. From what I remember the first 4 digits reflect the year of the part and the last 2 digits are the part revision level within that year.

Well the part number on the unopened official Ford part box it came in says 2C6Z-14B450-AB. So I don't know if the Ford parts warehouse just shipped this like that or if the Ford Stealership in Texas I ordered it from did an old switcharoo on me thinking heck he won't find out until 2 or 3 years down the road when it fails again anyways. The part looks kind of beat up. The front and back of the module is kind of scratched up. Maybe this is a remanufactured or refurbished part? Nonetheless I paid for a new part and the newer part number. I am going to have to straighten this out in the morning. The site says no return on electrical parts, but they sent me the wrong part number for crying out loud. Plus it says there is a 20% restocking fee. Well if they try to pull any crap on me I'll return the part and have my credit card company refuse to pay for the bogus fees.
