I am glad that Probleminfected asked that question. I have been reading threads for a year about lowering. Everyone just slaps in lowering shackles and front springs, usually in their driveway and no one even mentions sway bar links. I have read captianoblivious's site (have it under Favorites) but still don't really understand. If the front is lowered 1", then should you install 3 3/8" links? What about the back with a 2" drop? captianoblivious speaks about cutting and rewelding. Do most people who do a 1"/2" drop just ignore the links? I would really like to lower the truck, but until i understand this, I'm just lurking. Thanks

I just installed a roush overall 3-4.5" drop on the L. I had previously cut the rear sway bar end links down by 2" for just drop shackels. I put 2 5/8" Energy Suspension end links on the front , bought at Pep Boys....they had an assortment.

Thanks You can drive forever and not do anything and it will still drive and corner, just not as well (or optimum). From what I have read on the boards, the anti-sway bar works its best at parallel to the ground. It will still work(just not as well when not parallel). I cut and welded mine. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...1645-31193.jpg https://www.f150online.com/galleries...1645-31194.jpg |

funny people are real fing stupid at part stores. ride feel a hell of alot better, even better then stock. thanks though guys. i still need rear endlinks for the shackles, i don't have access to a welder. though i think the body shop at work might let me use theirs, but i've only used a welder once. |

Thanks http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/...rear_sways.jpg http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/...end_links2.jpg Wow! Handling is much crisper. The high-speed oversteer (kind of a wandering feeling at very high speeds) is reduced and the turn-in and low-speed handling is massively improved. My truck absolutely tears up a 20 MPH city street turn. Taking it to the track next weekend for some at-the-limit evaluation. p.s. - before anyone comments, I replaced the bump stops. |
