Fuel Pump Relay

Perhaps one of you Lightning Gurus can answer my question about the Fuel Pump Relay.

I am installing an ATI on my standard 5.4L truck.

Rather than using the secondary Fuel Pump which comes with the kit (too noisy), I am going to go with a large Bosch in-tank pump, similar to the pump used on a Lightning.

I am told thet the Fuel Pump Control Relay is No. 301 on the underhood panel.

Does anybody know if this relay is the same part in my truck as opposed to a Lightning? If it is it will stand the load of my pump, if not then I must either replace it with a lightning relay or install a secondary one.

I either case I am sure I will need to run a larger wire to the pump also.

Well, the Lightning fuel system is completely different from a standard F-150 (dual in tank pumps, high/low relay, stepped voltage system), so you really can't compare them or easily swap parts for one.

I don't see a problem with taking out your stock intank pump and putting in a larger one of the same desing, like a Walbro 255. The stock relay and wiring should easily be able to handle the minor amperage draw increase.

bosch fuel pump

Hi,
I'm getting ready to install my ATI kit on my 2002 SCrew 5.4. I've decided to lose the provided "inline" boost-a-pump and want th Bosch 255 lph pump. Does ANYONE know where I can buy that at? All I seem to find are the Walbro pumps.

Thanks!

Levi
